How Stubborn Is Your Heart?

1Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. 3Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”

4Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

5He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.–Mark 3

  1. The Pharisees were looking for a reason to trap Jesus.
  2. They didn’t care about the poor man and his horrible situation.
  3. They just wanted to get Jesus in some way.
  4. Then Jesus healed the man and trapped the Pharisees with His words.
  5. So then they wanted to kill Jesus. Literally, a miracle happened and they wanted to kill Him.
  6. Jesus felt distressed and angry at their stubborn hearts.
  7. How stubborn is your heart? You will know by the sins you cherish and the hypocrisies you self-justify and excuse.–JMB

The Art and Skill of Lament. 🥺

I think this is one of the things you had mentioned to me before, and it came up in a prayer support group I have been attending.

Thank you for your continued dedication to your blog posts. (I’ve read them all, some more than once.)
