2Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.–Galatians 6
- I run a support group for men who struggle with addictive behaviors.
- Our first lesson was for each to take their situation seriously.
- The second lesson was to start new, helpful routines that honor God.
- Last night’s lesson was to lean upon their brothers.
- So we traded cell phone numbers and I instructed them to check in with each other each night. They are not to carry the burden of temptation alone.
- The guys receiving those texts and phone calls are bearing another’s burden. They are forming the building blocks of accountability and intercession. These are essential.
- I am proud of those men for owning their situations, getting help, and pursuing biblical accountability. There is plenty of hope for them, as there was once hope for me when I was at my rock-bottom. In what way can you bear a burden this week?–JMB
