32Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, being a man of understanding and a scribe. He and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni attended the king’s sons. 33Ahithophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend. 34Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. Joab was commander of the king’s army.–1 Chronicles 27
- David had men in place who could speak into his life. Even into his sons’ lives.
- This was a very good decision.
- David’s main counselor was also a scribe, so he knew God’s Word.
- Yet, both David and his sons all made disastrous decisions.
- This either means that the counselors offered bad advice, or that they simply didn’t listen to counsel.
- Men, do you have men in your life that you respect, that mentor you and offer you counsel and accountability using the Bible? Ladies, do you have ladies that do that?
- I personally have those men in my life and for some men, I am that man.–JMB
