22Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 

25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her–Ephesians 5

1. Both of these verses are counter-cultural.
2. I encourage you to take them in reverse order.
3. The husband loves and serves his wife sacrificially.
4. The wife submits to the husband that sacrifices for her. And in doing so, she honors God.
5. Ephesians 5:25 is my verse as a husband, and also one I give to each new husband. I have an older man in my life who keeps me accountable regarding this verse.
6. Selfless. Sacrificial. Servant. These are the attitude words that I hold onto regarding my verse above. How about your verse?
7. Obviously, sacrifice can and should be by either or both spouses. I am grateful for my wife who regularly sacrifices for me.
8. But how are you regarding these verses?
9. Are those 3 S-words present in your life?
10. The unmarried, formerly married, and the widow/ers can still be blessed by living the attitudes expressed in these verses.–JMB
