Pause and Consider

1May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
2that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
3Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!–Psalm 67

  1. Praying for God to bless you is not a bad thing.
  2. In fact, the psalmist adds a “pause” moment with the word “Selah.”
  3. He invited us to pause and consider what he had just written down.
  4. So then the psalmist adds the goal of blessing.
  5. God’s blessing should lead to other people seeing God’s goodness and greatness.
  6. We are tempted to pray for ourselves and for how we might display the blessing or brag about it.
  7. Our goal should be that all the people around us praise God. Pause and consider that, my friend.–JMB
