Rock Bottom Humility

32When the humble see it they will be glad;
you who seek God, let your hearts revive.
33For the LORD hears the needy
and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.–Psalm 69

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (1 Peter 5:6)

  1. David was calling on God to save him from his enemies.
  2. He was stuck at a horrible moment in his life, and he could only call on God to save him.
  3. I journey with addicts who (like me, many years ago) have hit or have once faced rock bottom.
  4. Rock bottom that produces humility is a necessary thing for recovery.
  5. That humble person admits they are powerless to save themselves, turns to Jesus for deliverance, and then takes the necessary steps forward.
  6. David proclaimed that other humble people recognize that humility. Seeking God in humility recognizes our absolute need for him.
  7. God did not reject David. He promises to lift up each humble cry for help that depends upon Him. He hears the needy and frees the prisoners. Stay humble, my friends.–JMB
