23And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. 24And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.–Leviticus 9
This was a people that had witnessed the 10 plagues in Egypt. They had also crossed a body of water on dry ground. But God supernaturally ‘lighting the grill’ would have seemed majestic and awesome. God was starting the sacrificial system His way and in His power. God provided the initial fire that the priests would then maintain with each burnt offering.
Ministry is in God’s power and for His glory, for He provides what is necessary and then goes to work. Today as we read the Bible, God works on our hearts using His Scripture. He leads and guides us to opportunities that both give Him glory and serve His kingdom. What ministry fire has God provided in your life? How is God expecting you to serve Him? God provides what is necessary and then expects faithfulness from us. I see this over and over in Biblical counseling and support group ministries. Faithful preaching and teaching models this.–JMB
