5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.–Proverbs 3
Here is an exercise I like to lead people through when they feel distant from God but don’t know how to communicate why. Take each line of this proverb and ask key heart questions.
5Trust in the Lord with all your heart
- What areas do I not trust God?
- Does God have all my heart or not?
and lean not on your own understanding
- Do I try have life all figured out or do I seek God’s word first?
- Can I lean upon God’s wisdom or do I always have to lean on myself?
6in all your ways submit to him,
- What areas do I hold back and don’t submit to God?
- Do I spend my time controlling life or following God’s lead?
and he will make your paths straight.
- Do I think that I have to solve everything?
- What ‘crooked’ areas would be ‘straight’ as God works?
Have a great day! Doing the biblical ‘heart’ work is always good.–JMB
