Boundaries [1-minute read]

1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries…–Numbers 34 (emphasis)

IN CONTEXT: This chapter would of course be very controversial today. Wars have been fought regarding these lines. The boundary lines of the geopolitical nation of Israel matter a great deal to the Middle East. Here this was God setting the boundary lines for the nation.

FOR US: Throughout the Bible, God has set moral and spiritual boundary lines for us, as well. To follow Jesus means self-denial, not self-pursuit (Luke 9:23). We are commanded to do all for the glory of God, not the self, as our basic operating principle (1 Corinthians 10:31). The best boundaries are where you take God’s boundaries and then apply them to yourself.

So now take all aspects of your being and place a helpful boundary on yourself. These are areas you refuse to compromise in your faithful obedience to Jesus. You should daily depend upon God’s strength, but also stay disciplined and diligent!–JMB

Pastor Joel, I am wondering what the actual boundary lines drawn on a contemporary map of this area would look like. I have long believed the

area of Israel would be greater than that which it is today.

Is there a reliable map which would illustrate my question?
