Moses and Jesus

10Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.–Deuteronomy 34

Just let the words of Hebrews chapter 3 sink in.

Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. (Hebrews 3:3-6, emphasis)

  1. Moses was unique in his category.
  2. Nobody was greater than Moses in Moses’ category.
  3. But Jesus is also unique in His category.
  4. And Jesus’ category is greater than Moses’ category.
  5. The work of Moses points to Jesus and is ultimately fulfilled by Jesus. Not vice versa.
  6. Theologically speaking, the greatest work of Moses is to provide the bad news of the Gospel message. That bad news is that I am a sinner who has broken God’s law. Moses brought the law that points out that I broke it.
  7. Jesus provided the good news of the Gospel message. A sinner like me who humbles himself and trusts Jesus alone for salvation receives forgiveness, is reconciled to God, and has the hope of eternal life.–JMB

      1. Question for you…..do you plan to have your Masterclass at either Des Plaines or Randhurst for the upcoming season?  When we spoke in church last Sunday, I think you mentioned that and I also see that you’re having it at Portage Park on Thursdays but I am already committed to a group that night.
