Inheritance

32These are the inheritances that Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.33But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; the LORD God of Israel is their inheritance, just as he said to them.–Joshua 13

I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” (Lamentations 3:24)

  1. The Levites got no official territory as their own.
  2. This meant they couldn’t pass down land to their children like other tribes.
  3. They were chosen and set apart to serve God.
  4. God would take care of them and uniquely provide for their needs.
  5. So now this relationship with God became what they passed down.
  6. God was their portion, their inheritance. He became what the next generation waited for.
  7. I invite you to consider your legacy of faith in Christ and what you are leaving for the next generation.–JMB
