Salvation for the Hopeless

19On the third day, they threw the ship’s tackle overboard with their own hands. 20When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.–Acts 27

  1. Paul was being transported by sailing ship to Rome.
  2. The winds and storms were making the journey impossible.
  3. Some people read the end of verse 20 and that seems to describes their life.
  4. I journey with people in recovery from addictions, and I’ve known some who feel absolutely hopeless in their situations.
  5. I also have sat with counseling clients who have previously given up all hope of being delivered from their depression, their guilt, fear, regret, anxiety, loneliness, or shame.
  6. And yet in both cases, hope came when we opened the Bible and considered the very words of God which spoke directly to their situations.
  7. Do you trust Jesus for salvation in your hopeless situation?–JMB
