Lack of Discipline

21For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths. 22The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast. 23For lack of discipline they will die, led astray by their own great folly.–Proverbs 5

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

  1. The context in this proverb is sexual sin, but these words still apply to any sin.
  2. Sin ensnares and leads astray. It is folly or foolish.
  3. It may feel or seem good, but it ultimately leads to death.
  4. God knows your ways and paths, your excuses, your rationalizations.
  5. God sees you when you press the “snooze button” regarding your discipline.
  6. Repentance regarding your sin and faith in Jesus is your only hope.
  7. Daily disciplined choices with regular accountability in place is the only path out of addictive behaviors. Go to Celebrate Recovery!–JMB
