13Meanwhile a prophet came to Ahab king of Israel and announced, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and then you will know that I am the Lord.’ ”–1 Kings 20
- Ahab was the demon-worshiping king of Israel.
- He was under attack by an army led by the Syrians (Arameans) allied with the joint forces of 32 kings.
- Ahab was also recently and dramatically shown that Yahweh is God and Baal is not.
- And here, this same God wanted to demonstrate to Ahab the reality of His existence and the presence of His saving power.
- You might sometimes wonder why people who reject God sometimes experience God’s blessings.
- I’ve got an agnostic man in my life who wants help with his addiction. He is willing to further consider God, because God transformed me and gave me great victory regarding my past addictive behavior. So we march forward together with hope and the building blocks of trust in this very God.
- God wanted even Ahab to know of His existence and power to save against overwhelming odds. He wants you to know the same thing. My agnostic friend is on an intentional journey with me. I pray that it leads to Jesus.–JMB
