Then Solomon Began to Build

1Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to David his father, at the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.–2 Chronicles 3

Now the angel of the LORD had commanded Gad to say to David that David should go up and raise an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. So David went up at Gad’s word, which he had spoken in the name of the LORD (1 Chronicles 21:18-19).

  1. The Angel of the Lord once commanded David (through Gad, his seer) to build an altar at a specific site.
  2. This would have been a pivotal moment in the life of David that he passed onto his son.
  3. And Solomon followed in obedience and maintained a great family legacy with God.
  4. Sometimes we experience moments with God that are pivotal.
  5. We read a certain verse that speaks to our heart or we go through a season of life where God shows his faithfulness.
  6. Hold onto such moments and lean into those seasons. Sometimes the hardest chapters of our lives are when God seems closest.
  7. Solomon was faithful with a family moment important to his dad. When is a moment or season that God has uniquely shown his care? What key moments has He challenged and encouraged you? I am going through such a season right now.–JMB
