1When the rule of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.–2 Chronicles 12
…give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the LORD?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God (Proverbs 30:8-9).
- We have all heard of the “foxhole prayer.”
- In a life-threatening emergency, people pray to God.
- This is the opposite.
- Rehoboam was strong and established, and abandoned God.
- And his influence was such that all of his kingdom followed his lead.
- You wouldn’t trust a friend who only cared about you when you could help him, but otherwise wanted nothing to do with you.
- In your heart, is this ever you?–JMB
