3The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, 4but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel.–2 Chronicles 17
- The ancient kingly standard of faithfulness to God was David.
- David wasn’t perfect, but he took his own sin seriously.
- David also had a heart that cared about the things of God.
- Jehoshaphat sought God and walked in God’s commandments.
- He didn’t hold to the standards of the world when they conflicted with God’s ways.
- He also didn’t seek the Baals, worldly idols that brought a fake sense of control or security.
- Can all this be said about you?–JMB
