4Jehoshaphat lived at Jerusalem. And he went out again among the people, from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.–2 Chronicles 19
- A running plot of the books of Kings and Chronicles (even the book of Judges!) is influence.
- Many rulers used their influence to be selfish and to lead the people away from following God.
- Jehoshaphat used his influence to do the opposite.
- I love that he left his castle and went among his people.
- Following God was a personal matter to him and he made it a priority town by town.
- So many today are more concerned with the things of the world than they are with following God. For example, they find it more important that a person agrees with them politically than attends church faithfully.
- How do you use your influence regarding the people God has placed in your life?–JMB
