And They Sang Praises With Gladness, and They Bowed Down

30And Hezekiah the king and the officials commanded the Levites to sing praises to the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed down and worshiped.–2 Chronicles 29

  1. Hezekiah was a good king who cared about the things of God.
  2. In this chapter, Hezekiah oversaw the revitalization of the Temple and the worship system.
  3. He personally worshiped God and led a religious revival among the people.
  4. Here, the Levites utilized the Psalms of David and Asaph as their worship lyrics. The psalms are the original worship songs and have influenced praise and worship for thousands of years.
  5. Two things stand out here: gladness and bowing down.
  6. Gladness is satisfaction, as if the worshiper is satisfied with God and needs nothing else. Bowing down is submission.
  7. When is the last time you worshiped with the attitudes of satisfaction and submission?–JMB
