19And when the king [Josiah] heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes.–2 Chronicles 34
- Josiah was a good king who cared about the things of God.
- He supervised a clean up of the Temple.
- And during that overhaul, they found the book of God’s law.
- Josiah had it read aloud, and he immediately responded with grief and repentance.
- I sometimes journey in biblical counseling with individuals who haven’t opened their Bible in a long time.
- When they read verses that fit their situations, they often get emotional in their responses.
- How about you? Have you had a Josiah moment when it came to the Bible? I know I have. I didn’t tear my clothes, but I did repent.–JMB
